Think Europe, in partnership with the Austrian Embassy in Ljubljana, held the third edition of its “Breakfast with Experts” series, this time focused on defense and security in Europe and the Western Balkans.
The event highlighted that as NATO allies across the continent accelerate defense spending and military readiness, the Western Balkans face a distinct dilemma: how to strengthen security without undermining the region’s fragile stability.
The discussion featured Major General Boštjan Močnik, Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, and Prof. Dr. Iztok Prezelj, Head of the Chair of Defense Studies at the University of Ljubljana and President of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia. They discussed evolving defense policies, military capabilities, security threats, and ideas for preserving stability and peace in the region.
